About Me
Adam J. Whitlatch is a speculative fiction writer and editor. He is the author of over sixty poems and short stories spanning the genres of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. His work has been featured in numerous print and electronic markets. He began writing as a hobby in 1998, but then started writing full time in 2005 when he began work on his first novel, an urban fantasy vampire story.
In 2012, Adam joined the KHP Publishers, Inc. team as an associate editor.
Adam enjoys travelling to various science fiction conventions around the Midwest, often speaking on the subjects of writing, young adult literature, the portrayal of the undead in popular media, and post-apocalyptic survival. He is also an advocate for water conservation and campaigns against water mining and corporate water piracy. He occasionally teaches writing classes for the Villages Folk School in Van Buren County, Iowa.
In May 2012, Adam graduated with Honors from Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa; he majored in literature, focusing on speculative fiction and religious/mythological texts. He has been accepted into Iowa Wesleyan College’s English Education program, where he will be working toward his Bachelor’s Degree and secondary education certification. Adam’s goal is to teach high school English and theatre.
In his spare time, Adam is a practitioner of two Korean martial arts. He currently holds the ranks of 3rd Gup Brown Belt in Tang Soo Do and 5th Gup Yellow Belt in Haedong Kumdo. He has also studied numerous weapon styles, including sai, nunchaku, and bo.
Adam lives on a small farm in southeastern Iowa with his wife, Jessica, and their three sons.
