I am pleased to announce that I just completed the final exam in my three-year quest for my Associate of Arts degree. It’s been a tiring and rewarding time for me. And while my writing has unfortunately taken a backseat during this time, I am now at the halfway point on my journey to become a high school English teacher.

Because this semester has been so tiring and demanding, both due to workload and the challenge of raising Scott, I have decided to take a year off from my studies and pursue my BA and teaching certification in the fall of 2013. This means that–assuming I attend full time–I should be out of school just in time for hover boards, self-lacing Nikes, and the theatrical release of Jaws 19. Whoa… that’s heavy.

I don’t have all of my final grades for this semester yet, so I’ll post them later… probably in my graduation post since they’re due on the same day as the ceremony. The graduation ceremony is at 7PM on May 10th. I promise to post pics of me in my pretty red cap and gown and shiny honors bling-bling, so check back on the 11th. But for right now…

No more classes! No more books! No more teachers’ dirty looks!

I’ll be taking part in four panels, plus a reading. Jess and I are very excited to be going back to CONvergence this year and I’m hoping to have more of a chance to cut loose and enjoy myself. Judging by my schedule, I don’t think that will be a problem.

I’m going to start putting together the prize packages for the Post-Apocalyptic Survival panel very soon. I’m thinking about doing things slightly differently this year for the prizes. Time and budget will tell. As some of you know, I’ll be doing this year’s presentation in full Matt Freeborn cosplay. Jess has also put together a weller costume, so she’ll be my lovely assistant for the audience participation portion of the presentation.
