Somebody’s Gonna GET IT!

If there’s one thing you just don’t do, it’s fuck with another man’s guitar. Unfortunately somebody did just that to Brad Hursh, formerly of V Shape Mind. Brad recently came home to find his house trashed and his prized guitars (pictured at left) stolen. Brad lives in Decatur, Illinois, so the guitars are more than likely in the Midwest.

This honestly couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. I became a fan of Brad’s when V Shape Mind’s song “Monsters”  first appeared on the radio during my house painting days in Cedar Rapids. I remember picking up Cul-De-Sac at Best Buy and being completely blown away by the entire CD. Unfortunately their label screwed them over and V Shape Mind disbanded shortly after Cul-De-Sac.

I remember the first time I ever spoke to Brad. I had recently joined MySpace and Brad sent me a friend request, seeing that I had listed V Shape Mind among my favorite bands. We exchanged a few messages and after emitting a fanboyish SQUEE I ran out to the kitchen to tell my wife “THELEADSINGEROFVSHAPEMINDJUSTTALKEDTOMEONMYSPACE!!!”

I was a little excited.

Don’t judge me.

Brad’s music has always been a major part of my writing process. I listened to V Shape Mind a lot when I wrote The Blood Raven: Retribution. Brad’s solo track “Mettle” was frequently on repeat in my MySpace player when I worked on E.R.A. – Earth Realm Army. V Shape Mind’s”Monsters” is one of the main inspirations for my new “Sooper Seekrit Projekt” that I’m not telling anyone about yet. Needless to say, I am a fan.

But back to the business at hand: some dickweed violated Brad’s home, took his guitars, and needs to pay. I ask that anyone in the Midwest music scene or anyone that frequents pawn shops please keep an eye out for these guitars, and if you see them please contact Brad and the police.

Thank you.

Do you know if he ever got them back?
It’s actually pretty hard to sell a pro’s instrument. Music shops know who they belong to, and most pawn shops can tell they’re stolen.

    Not yet, Shannon.
